Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars hit the mark with hard rock in their single "Blow"

An unusual collaboration surprised everyone by delivering a powerful single

Ed Sheeran decided to venture into the world of rock in his new single "Blow." The pop singer, known for bringing to life recent romantic anthems, took a chance alongside Bruno Mars and country musician Chris Stapleton , and the result was surprising.

“Blow” is part of the No.6 Collaborations Project , an album full of collaborations by Ed Sheeran, which will be released this Friday, the 12th. The work also came with a fun music video that shows an all-female rock band. They appear playing at The Viper Room, a famous Los Angeles club that hosts metal, punk rock, and alternative rock bands.

The collaboration was a surprise from the start. Although all three musicians fill arenas around the world, they speak to very different audiences. Love songs are Sheeran's forte, while Bruno Mars navigates between the pop of Michael Jackson and Prince , and Chris Stapleton brings his beard, boots, and hat straight from Nashville. Who would have thought that this mix would result in such high-quality hard rock?

The opening seconds of the song directly remind us of Greta Van Fleet , a band that has surprised and attracted attention for numerous reasons already mentioned here on Wikimetal. The first part of the song features Ed Sheeran exploring vocal ranges not seen in the ballads he's been creating since 2011 with his debut album + .

The second section, when Stapleton enters, the country guitar quickly transforms into a heavy riff that wins over any fan most devoted to the genre. Bruno Mars also showcases his range and chameleon-like dynamism by bringing R&B elements to the song. In the end, the harmony blends perfectly with the trio's adventurous screams.
